Dear Addie and John,
Today was our first day (after a driving day) of our vacation in Pennsylvania. We arrived at Dutch Wonderland as it opened for the day. Both of you were so excited for a day of rides made especially for little kids.
Our first ride was the Off-Road Rally. Addie drove daddy while John drove me around the track a few times in a jeep. They were both excellent drivers as John intently watched the road ahead. Addie and daddy then hopped onto the Frog Hopper. A ride that went up in the air and then made small drops down. My stomach was flipping just watching the two of you! Next we were on to the Duke's Dozers and the Panda Party rides. Addie, these were your favorite rides last time we came to this amusement park! And they definitely became fast favorites of John's too. He ended up riding them several times. Addie, it was cute how you helped John with the panda, explaining to him how to make it work. Big smiles were all that we could see.
Then it was off to the Bumper Cars. How fun! John, this was the only ride that you were too small for. However, you watched as Addie, Grandpa, Mommy and Daddy bumped around the track aiming for each other.
We then crossed the bridge to Exploration Island to ride the old cars on the Sunoco Turnpike. Addie, you came in my car with me and we took turns steering and driving. Daddy was behind us. Then we took a boat ride in a Gondola. Who was the captain of the boat this time? Addie, we then took a walk through the Prehistoric Path meeting some big and scary dinosaurs. At the end, you got to pop out of a T-Rex dinosaur egg!
Next, were the Wiggle Racers. I wasn't sure if John would try one out but he did for a little while and both of you looked like you had fun. A sky ride to the front of the park was on the plan next. Grandpa and Addie rode together while John rode with Mommy and Daddy! We met Mimi at the front, because she walked the stroller. The time was finally here! John had been waiting all morning for it! The TRAIN ride! Around the park, the choo choo went! John's dreams came true!
After lunch, we rode a log boat through the Dragon's Lair. You guys took turns driving the boat as we sat back and relaxed on the ride. We were then off to the giant Fun Slide. Big smiles again adorned your faces as you both asked to go again! But it was time for the Diving Show. It was neat watching the girls and boys dive into the water from very high heights! After the show, Mimi, Addie and I rode the Turtle Whirl. Wow, did we go around in circles fast!
It was finally time for one of my favorite rides - the Flying Trapeze, the swings that fly high above the ground. It was cool that we were able to share this ride with Addie since you were too small the last time we were here. In fact, you wanted to ride again immediately. Choo Choo Charlie was next. Addie, you bicycled your arms to power you trek through the track. You've gotten so much bigger! The Merry-Go-Round and Story Time with Princess Brooke followed.
John, we finally got you to take a short nap while Addie listened to the story and did a few more rides. We actually went on a log ride named the Double Splash Flume! There were two hills that we went up and then down fast to a big splash at the bottom. We really didn't get very wet though!
For the remainder of the day, we did some repeat rides. John actually had fun on the log ride too! He rode in between Mommy and Daddy in the front and put his head down on Daddy's back when we rode up the hill. By the end of the ride, John, you were all smiles and laughing!
There was a small roller coaster next to the log ride. I had asked you Addie if you had wanted to ride this earlier and you kept adamantly saying NO! However, this time I asked John if he wanted to go. He said YES! So off we went. I was quite impressed. He had a great time on the fast kiddie roller coaster. When we got off, Addie was lining up with Daddy. She wasn't to be outdone by her little brother!
What a fun day at the park!
What was your most favorite thing?
