This morning we went down to Kitty Hawk to visit the Outerbanks Children's Museum. I had read about this place before we arrived and thought it might be something good for all of us to do. Grandma and pa were here too and planned to meet us. We had no real expectations for the place. I was not sure if it would be like a small COSI or like Firefly Cafe or Lollipops and Lattes. When we got there, we looked in the windows and we questioned whether it would be fun for you. It looked somewhat small. We waited down in a small game and puzzle shop for grandma and pa to arrive. Daddy actually finished a puzzle in under 5 minutes and won a free one of its like - the most challenging puzzle. We then decided that you and I would go into the children's museum for a bit and the Daddy, John, Grandma and Pa would sit in the gazebo and wait. John was not feeling well as he now had the same cold that you had first, then me, and now him.
Well, the fun we had was very understated! My small expectations were shattered! This place was SO.MUCH.FUN! Here are just a few of the activities you did:
Played dress up. Danced on a stage. And tried on a pair of princess high heels!
Went fishing on a boat. Caught a few fish on a fishing line.
Showed me the lighthouse that we visited.
Went grocery shopping. Checked out at the register.
Made some muffins. Stirred up a new soup recipe. Served the meal. Sat and ate with me!
Dressed up as Dr. Addie. Chose a black bear as your patient. Listened to his hear, looked in his eyes and ears. Gave him a shot.
I then traded spaces with daddy so that he could see you at play. I went out to sit with John, Grandma and Pa. I even caught this very cute picture of Johnny! That is what you have been calling him nonstop this week. It is very cute. It's your next nickname for him! Great morning it was!!
We were then off on our way back to our condo for lunch and some pool time. However, there was an accident on the one road into and out of Duck that had everything way backed up. We were only 10 roads from our place and you said that you had to potty very badly! With traffic not moving at all, we turned around to go find a small, quick place for lunch which had the much needed toilet too! Well, we found a wonderful place - tropical smoothie cafe! It was yummy! You had a carrot, banana, and orange smoothie. You said it was YUMMY! John thought so too as he drank a small cup as well. Fruit and veggies all in one tasty drink! I will have to make you these at home!
We then were able to get home in no time since the traffic had cleared. And it was pool time!
You showed grandma and pa your awesome jumping in and swimming skills. You are a little fish! I can't see what you are like by the end of the week.
Love the fun memories we are creating,
Mommy
